The Irish R.M. [Registered Magistrate] is a hilarious collection of fiction stories written by E. CE. Somerville and Martin Ross (they're cousins). My mother brought it back for me when she went to Ireland about 15 years ago, and I'm just now getting around to reading (and finishing) it. I have loved it. An English Registered Magistrate goes to Ireland to live, and this book is a collection of the hilarious predicaments he finds himself in, mostly because he's English and everyone else is Irish.
In fact, Marcee, you'd probably love this book because of the Irish things going on in it.
Anyway, as a work of grand literature, this is probably somewhere around a 5. As a work of I'm so glad I've read this literature, definitely a 9 or 10.
